Tonight’s matches, 03/27/08
By: Mauro | March 27th, 2008I can’t stress to you all how cool it is that we will be able to watch ALL of this week’s matches on Fox Sports Español and live to boot. Next week, CONCACAF Champions Cup returns to interrupt the regular Copa Libertadores service we’ve been spoiled with this week.

Danubio host Cuenca in Group 2 action. This match starts at 3pm PST on FSE. In only their 2nd match at home, Danubio look to register their first win in this competition. Cuenca on the other hand look to keep pace with injury decimated Lanús and Estudiantes de la Plata by getting a tough away win. Bottom line: Cuenca need all three points today and must win or hope for an Estudiantes away win (unlikely in my opinion) in south Buenos Aires next Wednesday . My pick: 1-1.

Boca Juniors host Colo Colo at La Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires at 5pm PST on FSE. Lots of side stories here, Palermo looks to get his 182 goal in a Boca jersey, Claudio ‘Bichi’ Borghi is to coach his last match for Colo Colo tonight and the players are still in disagreement with the club directors over prize money that should have been awarded to the players for matches they’ve already won. Amid this drama, Riquelme is still out due to a knee injury suffered in the away leg, and Boca find themselves in 3rd place in their group with only 4 points. Bottom line: This should be a Boca win, they have shown that they can win without Riquelme since Gracian stepped up and had a great match at the weekend against Colón of Santa Fe. My pick: 2-1 to Boca.

In the late match, Cúcuta host Chivas in the return leg of this match which starts at 7:30pm PST on FSE. Two weeks ago, in Guadalajara, Cúcuta surprised everyone registering one of the few away wins at this stage of the competition at Chivas by only one goal. This was the biggest upset so far in my opinion, until of course last week when San José managed to beat Santos in Bolivia 2-1. Bottom line: Cúcuta need this win at home in order to maintain their standing. They have been so irregular anything could happen. My pick: Eenie, meenie, miny, mo, 0-0.
