Salt on the Wound.

It turns out that Fluminense not only lost the Libertadores Cup last week but they also were unable to collect their portion of the money made at the gate.
Yup, that’s right, even the money that was guaranteed to come to them, somehow slipped through their fingers.
What actually happened was that ex-Flu player Branco (played for the Brazilian national team in the 86, 90 and 94 World Cups) had a lawsuit against his former club and the percentage of the money that was due to the club from the gates was seized by the courts as a deposit on the money owed to the Branco.
Branco has responded to this by saying, “Finding out that this money is mine is news to me. This is money that I am entitled to and I am not going to allow myself to become the villain of the story.”
He went on by saying, “This was an agreement between the CBF (Confederacao Brasileña de Futebol) and Fluminense, and I haven’t seen that money. Of all the clubs I have played for, Fluminense was the only club I had problems with.”
To top it off, the money made from the gates at last Wednesday night’s match was the largest amount of money made at any gate in Brazilian football’s history.
Also, in the bite-the-hand-that-feeds-you department, Branco is still currently employed with Fluminense as football coordinator and has been since 2006.
Also, Flu lost this weekend to Goiás in the local cup 1-0, but most of their starters were rested. Unfortunately for this talented side, the hits keep coming.
