Luqueño Drag Audax Down With Them.

From the first minute they came out at them. Attacking incessantly and scoring at will. And I’m not talking about Audax Italiano, the one team tonight that could have made things interesting had they won this match. I’m talking about the already eliminated, nothing to play for, Sportivo Luqueño. Audax could have qualified if they’d come out guns blazing, as I like to say, but not tonight.

Luqueño dominated play from the get go. They were more organized and had seemed to have thought this match out with guys like Ruben Gigena and Juan Abente running at the Audax defense. Audax on the other hand, had a porous defense, had trouble keeping the ball in the midfield and had few appearances in the opposing team’s area.

Luqeuño’s first goal came in the second minute scored by Juan Abente. Rúben Gigena added one in the 8th minute off a fantastic strike that beat the keeper to the first post (FIRST POST!!). Abente scored again in the 28th minute off a rebound from the keeper, and Celso Esquivel poured on the pain with one more before the end of the first half with an amazing shot from just outside the penalty area. Audax got one back in the second half with Carlos Villanueva scoring in the 55th minute with a short shot from inside the area. I just want to know, where the hell was this Sportivo team these past few weeks?!?!?! They could have cleaned up had they played Atletico Nacional and Sao Paulo like this!!

I had this one ending as a draw. For this one post, I totally suck. Ah well, you can’t guess them all.
