Luqueño and Atl. Nacional Duke it Out in Paraguay.
By: Mauro | April 9th, 2008Sportivo Luqueño vs. Atlético Nacional (Estadio Luqueño, Luque, Paraguay)

Group 7 is certainly one of the tighter groups of the competition. This match will almost certainly decide who will remain in 2nd place but will/could be affected by the Audax-Sao Paulo match late tomorrow depending on the results. Luqueño is looking to avenge their away loss, 3-0 to Atl. Nacional and due to the importance of this match they had closed door practices. Luqueño is in fourth place with four points and behind Audax who also has four points but have a better goal difference. Interesting note: Luqueño has an American in their line up. Back up goalkeeper Bryan Lopez.
Nacional are coming off a great match in the Colombian league against Cucuta Deportivo where they won 3-1, Paraguayan Carlos Villagra scored a hat trick. Nacional is looking for a win to separate themselves from the bottom two. Again, another team who’s final standing in the group will not depend solely on them.
Bottom Line: Luqueño are not the strongest team in this group and should be able to hold off Atl. Nacional who is also not storming through this competition. My pick: 1-1. Neither team will have enough firepower to put away their opponent.
