LDU Quito Show Estudiantes a Thing or Two.
By: Mauro | April 30th, 2008In the Estadio La Casa Blanca last night, Estudiantes controlled the first half in a pretty impressive way. Through Juan Veron and Leandro Benitez, Estudiantes was able to control things early on. Roberto Sensini had his team head out in two lines of four in front of keeper Mariano Andujar.
The second half was nothing like the first. LDU Quito took possession of the ball and control of the match from Estudiantes and made Andujar work really hard to keep a clean sheet. But that didn’t last long, Joffre Guerrón came on strong in the 63rd minute and got a spectacular shot past Andujar from a tight angle. With Estudiantes reeling, LDU Quito was able to keep the ball and control over the match. In the 77th minute of the match, Damian Manso scored for LDU Quito again and gave them the 2-0 lead, a lead they kept through the rest of the match.
Before the end of the second half, Juan Diaz was sent off for earning his second yellow of the match for Estudiantes after a rough foul on Guerrón. This is the third time Estudiantes is left with only ten men on the pitch in the Copa Libertadores. Agustin Alayes was the culprit the other two times in the group stage.
I had this match going 2-1 with Estudiantes picking up an away goal. Not the case, LDU Quito were 2 goals better than Estudiantes last night. Next week, same bat time. Same bat channel.
