I’m a bad, bad blogger. I am writing this as the match begins. Hopefully I’ll get to the end of it before the first half is over but if I don’t, I’m sorry.

San Lorenzo will be looking desperately for a goal in this one. One that will make this match worth watching. LDU Quito only need a 0-0 draw to advance and could rest on their laurels and wait it out. I doubt they’ll do that as they’ll want a proper celebration in front of their fans.

In the last match, LDU caught San Lorenzo off guard and snuck in a goal off an awful blooper, from normally secure Agustín Orión, that would give any keeper nightmares. They managed to tie it up and save some face for tonight’s match. That one ended 1-1.

Look for lots of exchange of possession as both sides will attempt to apply their own rhythm to the match. Andrés D’Allesandro on one side and Damián Manso on the other. Also, look for Gonzalo Bergessio and either Andrés Silvera or Bernardo Romeo to pair up in the front for San Lorenzo. Look for Adrián González to also be a threat.

LDU will attack as well with Manso, Patricio Urrutia and Joffre Guerrón. Claudio Bieler could help out if he gets the start. Look for LDU to try to keep possession and keep San Lorenzo at bay.

Botttom Line: San Lorenzo need to score and if they could win that would be even better. A 2-2 draw woudl also qualify them but they’ll need more than that if they want to impress Boca who waits for them in the semis. LDU Quito are at home in front of their fans and will be looking to just keep San Lorenzo under control. Not likely in my book.

My pick: 2-1 to San Lorenzo. After their miraculous turn around in the last round, they should be able to take of LDU even in the high altitude of “La Casa Blanca” Stadium.

And then there was one. Boca Juniors. Lone Argentine Representative. How sweet it is.
