Flamengo Struggle But Win As Expected.
By: Mauro | April 24th, 2008Not that anyone thought that Flamengo would have any trouble taking care of Bolognesi but man, did it take a while for that first one to go in. Flamengo was in the next round despite what was going to happen today and the Peruvians decided they were not going to make it easy. Without their midfield playmaker Ibsen, Bolognesi was able to defend the 0-0 to perfection, and had quite a bit of luck, for almost the entire match. The Brazilians were so desperate for a goal that something very interesting happened late in the second half.
Flamengo goal-keeper does not usually take free kicks for his squad but in the 82nd minute, Bruno headed way outside of his penalty area and stood behind the ball. Diego Penny could do nothing but watch the big-bodied Bruno slice it past him. After that goal, the Peruvian team fell apart and it was only a matter of time before Obina, off a short cross from Marcinho, finished the match off. It was 2-0 to Flamengo and that was the end of Bolognesi.
I had this match going 3-0. It ended 2-0, so I was only one goal off, which I’ve had happen a few times, no big whoop. This match was not easy, peasy. Flamengo struggled quite a bit to finish off the Peruvians but they had trouble getting the ball into the net. Every team has those matches.
