Flamengo spank Cienciano at 3,400 meters above sea level.

Cienciano vs. Flamengo (Estadio Garcilaso de la Vega, Cusco, Peru)

Flamengo disperse their own neuroses about playing in the high altitude by really taking it to Cienciano in Peru last night. Cienciano was missing two of their midfielders, William Chiroque and Julio Garcia, but it didn’t matter as Flamengo dominated play and were able to put the game away. Flamengo join, LDU Quito, Fluminense, Cucúta Deportivo and Cruzeiro in the next round of play.

Cienciano are now forced to win their last match which is away to Nacional, who have won both of their previous matches there. A win there, give them 2nd place regardless of what happens in the Flamengo-Bolognesi match. Any other result eliminates them outright. Nacional need a win or a draw to go through.
