Audax Italiano Throw Their Hat in the Ring.

Now, I had Audax on the ropes ready for the Adriano knock-out punch. Audax was missing three of it’s key players and I thought that would be enough for Sao Paulo to just show up. It seems I was wrong, something my wife will tell you I am often. They played a very organized formation and gave up a few dangerous chances to their opponents. Adriano even had a few chances but his efforts went either high or wide. But it wasn’t all one sided. The difference maker came in the 77th. Renato Ramos stretched out to knock it in on a very tight cross that beat the keeper. From that moment on, it was all out attack on the part of the visitors until the match was over. Unfortunately, in the final third of the pitch Sao Paulo was not precise at all and it seemed they could have played another 45 minutes and still not scored because it just wasn’t going to happen for them last night.
With this win, Audax raises their hand to be counted. Three teams have the possibility to advance to the next round; Atletico Nacional, Sao Paulo and Audax can qualify should they get a desired result and maybe some help from the other match. The two remaining matches will be hotly contested and are not to be missed.
I had this one going to Sao Paulo, 2-1. Audax reached down and pulled out something I didn’t think they had in a very fragile moment. Spirit and enthusiasm. I’ll take that, nine times out of ten, over a team with the best players in the world.
