Atlas Looks to Close Out Their Tie With Lanús.
By: Mauro | May 6th, 2008F.C. Atlas A.C. vs. Club Atlético Lanús (Estadio Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico)
LIVE @ 7:30pm PST on Fox Sports Español
Atlas are in an enviable position coming into this match. They won in the first leg of this match in Buenos Aires last week and will be hosting Lanús on their ground tonight. Atlas qualify with a draw, Lanús need to win by two clear goals in order to qualify, and in order to do so, they’ll need to do what no other team has been able to do at the Estadio Jalisco. Beat Atlas on their home ground.
Atlas have not scored fewer than three goals per match at home in the group stage and have defeated all comers in the competition at home, including a 2-0 win against La Paz FC in the early qualifying round.
Look for Ulises Mendevil and Bruno Marioni to be dangerous yet again in this one. Word is that Lanús has all their players back, minus young Nicolás Ramirez. On Lanús’ side of the ball, look for Diego Valeri and José Sand to try to make something happen for their squads.
Bottom Line: Atlas have the advantage in this one at home and should win. Lanús face an uphill battle. My pick: 1-1. Atlas go through on the away goal.
