Mauro Toledo
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the white and red half. I came to this country as a baby so I grew up here in the US as an American. English is my second language, although you’d never know it unless I told you.
I have been watching football since I was 11 years old. I have been watching teams play the Copa Libertadores since those matches have been televised on Fox Sports Español and few years before that when I would have to sit through an hour of Mexican football highlights and news on Univision or Telemundo only to see the just the scores from this competition.
I am an avid fan of River Plate of Argentina, a team I inherited from my father who was a member of the club and my family, including an uncle who actually played in the youth ranks for River, but have been able to retain a level head about my team’s performance with respect to the rest of the world and have done a good job of being impartial in my writing.
I played football as a young man but a knee injury put an end to my short lived, completely below amateur career. I am a professional Designer/Art Director and do this blog on the side, follow the Argentine Primera league and Copa Libertadores closely, tend to my small dog, make handmade books and draw/paint/sketch and I manage to squeeze in a surprising amount of football matches throughout all that as well as a lot of reading. So, that’s me in about 275 words, no nutshells.
