By: Mauro | Comments 1 Comment

Boca was looking to take apart Fluminense from the get go and at times it seemed like they were going to be able to do it. With inspired play from Juan Román Riquelme and a seemingly unstoppable Rodrigo Palacio, Boca seemed poised to absolutely destroy Fluminense.

LDU Quito Has The Advantage. Well, Maybe.

By: Mauro | Comments 4 Comments

In the battle of the unexpected teams, América hosted LDU Quito in the Azteca last night a stadium I figured, as many of you might have, would not be hosting another Copa Libertadores match. It is becoming very difficult to mention América’s name and not talk about the way in which they arrived where they [...]

Unexpected Guests.

By: Mauro | Comments No Comments

So, I had some trouble logging into the site last night and I realized after trying again this morning, I’m not that good a speller after all.
So with that said, I am including the preview, of course, the match has been played, so that doesn’t really make it a preview. But still, I wrote it [...]

Santos Win But In The End Lose.

By: Mauro | Comments No Comments

Ok, so someone needs to get América coach Juan Antonio Luna out to Buenos Aires to give Diego Simeone a little tutorial on how to field a good defense, because América’s boys really did their all to keep Santos at bay. Of course, I’m well aware that it does help when you can line up [...]

LDU Quito, the Argentine-Killer.

By: Mauro | Comments 1 Comment

LDU Quito had something to prove in this match. This was one of their first really big and important matches, in my opinion. It was this tie and the match at home against Fluminense that were the biggest matches for LDU Quito and they drew both of them so far.
San Lorenzo, meanwhile, has taken out [...]

The only thing standing in América’s path to the Semi-finals is Santos. Quite a big thing to get past, I should say. Santos are not anything to scoff at. They are unbeaten at [...]

Flu’s Dream Lives On.

By: Mauro | Comments No Comments

Earlier in this tournament, Flu happened to qualify for the round of 16. Not a big deal for most teams but given that it was something they had never done before it was a historic right of passage of sorts and a huge deal the supporters and the club. After last night, Flu has become [...]
